What is the difference between a digital wallet card and an E-wallet balance?

Understand Apple Wallet and Google Wallet cards, prepaid E-wallet balances, and how each is used in Salonist.

Written by Mark

A digital wallet card is a card a client adds to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet on their phone. An E-wallet balance is prepaid credit recorded against the client's account in Salonist. The card can display a balance; it is not the balance itself.

What is a digital wallet card?

A digital wallet card gives clients a convenient way to keep their salon card on their phone. Depending on the program configured for the card, it can show loyalty points, an E-wallet balance, membership details or remaining package sessions.

To review the digital wallet offering available to your account, go to Sales Tools → Digital Wallet.

What is an E-wallet balance?

An E-wallet balance is prepaid credit held in a client's Salonist account. Staff use the applicable prepaid payment option when billing the client for eligible services or purchases.

For example, if a client has KWD 50 of prepaid credit and uses KWD 20 towards an eligible bill, the remaining balance is KWD 30.

Which one do I need?

  • To let a client pay using prepaid credit: check and use the E-wallet balance in the client's Salonist account.

  • To give a client a card on their phone: use the digital wallet card offering.

  • To show prepaid credit on a phone card: configure the card to display the E-wallet balance, where that option is available.

Frequently asked questions

Does adding a card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet add money?

No. Adding the card to a phone does not, by itself, top up the client's E-wallet balance.

Are loyalty points the same as prepaid credit?

No. Loyalty points and prepaid credit are different values. Check whether the card is showing points, a money balance, membership details or package sessions.

Does using E-wallet credit mean issuing a refund?

No. Using E-wallet credit pays towards a bill. A refund returns value to a client and is a separate action.

What should I check if the card shows an unexpected balance?

Check the client's record and transaction history in Salonist first. If the card and account record do not match, contact Salonist Support with the issue details before changing the balance.

Illustrated guide

  1. Loyalty points are a reward measure.

  2. E-wallet balance is prepaid store credit, which is different from the wallet card itself.

  3. A membership is a plan with its own entitlement and renewal rules.

  4. Packages and stamps track sessions or visits. This screenshot is a feature overview; the actual client record remains the reference for eligibility and balances.
